Tina Waldrom speaks with Ben McEachen about Evangelism as Touchpoints. Ben, a radio host with Hope 103.2 has seen lives touched through small interactions that accumulatively, have led people to faith. Ben views the thoughtful framing of conversations as an important ingredient to seeing people engage with the Christian worldview. Ben, originally sceptical of the affect that Christian radio could have on non-Christians has a new viewpoint. After hearing the stories of many listeners, his eyes are open to the power of touchpoints. The lessons learnt encourage believers to expect God to be at work in everyday moments.
Ben McEachen would not describe himself as an evangelist, but he is convinced that every believer should look to share their faith. The challenge for Ben, as it is for all believers, is to share faith in ways that cause others to listen and to see Christ. Ben does this effectively on the radio and in his personal life. He shares the very real struggles and thought processes when it comes to Evangelism as Touchpoints. He talks about the journey of people coming to faith and the need to be clear on what is communicated. Intentionality is very much a part of his message.
In this episode, Ben talks about the concept of touchpoints from both a positive and negative viewpoint. Viewing evangelism as touchpoints should not facilitate the mindset that more direct conversations are never needed. The concept of touchpoints is powerful but must be held in tension with God moving at any specific time and what He is requiring in that moment. The role of the Holy Spirit is something that Ben talks about in the episode. This is an inspiring episode. God can and will use everyone to reach the world for Christ.
