Sometimes we look at the legends of the Old Testament as if they were
nearly perfect moral examples. So when we read about their failures, we
either gloss over them, excuse them, or are perplexed. But the stories
of the Old Testament legends are preserved for us not because they were
perfect but because they believed God. God extended grace to them when
they sinned like he does to all sinners who ask.
