Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, — 2 Timothy 3:12

Paul lays it out plainly: if you're determined to live godly in Christ Jesus, you will face persecution. The world loves its own, but you're not of the world — Christ chose you out of it, and that's why the world hates you. Don't be surprised when the friendship of the world is at odds with the love of God. He told you this so you wouldn't stumble when it happens. Take heart — He has overcome the world.
