A second time He went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, may Your will be done.” — Matthew 26:42

Jesus prayed this in Gethsemane with sweat like drops of blood, and He taught you to pray the same words. The way of man is not in himself; your will is a poor guide. He doesn’t always give what you ask, and that’s mercy—He gave Israel their request but sent leanness into their soul. A weaned child resting on its mother has nothing left to prove.
