It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth. Discipline learned early is a gift that lasts a lifetime. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he's old he won't depart from it. Our earthly fathers disciplined us and we respected them—how much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live? Psalm 119:67 says "Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word. God's plans are for welfare, not calamity.
