The perimeter of the city will be 18,000 cubits, and from that day on the name of the city will be: THE LORD IS THERE.” — Ezekiel 48:35
Jehovah-shammah—the Lord is there. That is the final name of the restored city, and it is the promise that echoes through all of Scripture: God dwelling with His people. No temple will be needed in the new creation, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple. Everything else we long for—His presence, His face, His nearness—finds its yes in Christ, who is God with us. The final word is not exile but Emmanuel.
