For they persecute the one You struck and recount the pain of those You wounded. — Psalm 69:26

This is a prophecy of Christ, the Man of Sorrows, struck by God and rejected by men. They mocked Him, spat on Him, and crucified Him—but it was all according to the determinate counsel of God. The suffering Servant was bruised for our iniquities, and “by His wounds we are healed”. No one took His life; He laid it down willingly for the sheep.
