The mighty God—el gibbor—is no distant deity. He's the one who girds himself with strength, who lays help on one who is mighty. And yet this mighty God was struck as the shepherd and his arm was revealed for our salvation. He leads us in triumph and is able to keep us from stumbling and to present us faultless with exceeding joy. The mighty God is for us, not against us.
