Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; — Romans 5:3

Paul says we glory in tribulations — which sounds impossible until you remember Christ. If in this life only we have hope, we're most pitiable. Yet suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope because God's love has been poured into our hearts. The apostles rejoiced to suffer for the name, and habakkuk could rejoice in God even when the fields yielded no food. Christ suffered first, and he walks with us through every trial.
