and those who use the things of this world, as if not dependent on them. For this world in its present form is passing away. — 1 Corinthians 7:31

This world in its present form is passing away'. Everything you can see—money, reputation, health, empires—it's all fading. Like a vapor that appears for a little while and vanishes. Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died. The world passes away and the lust of it, but the one who does the will of God abides forever. Paul puts it bluntly: the day of the Lord comes like a thief. So set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
