Paul begins 1 Timothy by establishing his divine calling and authority, pointing Timothy—and us—to the source of true ministry strength. Our hope is Christ, and our resources are grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. God not only gives the command; He supplies everything needed to fulfill it.

Who was Timothy, and why did Paul entrust him with the care of a church?
