A journal can be a mirror that reflect parts of you that may have been neglected or overlooked. When partaking in journaling, you are outwardly expressing your internal feelings, thoughts and emotions that cannot be seen by the naked eye alone. When these internal navigations in our life are outwardly seen and expressed, it is easier to understand them and know what may need to be changed in one’s life or how to move forward in specific situations.
Meditation can lead you to peace and tranquility after being in a constant state of auto pilot. When your mind, heart, spirit and body consistently runs and runs and runs at full speed all day, there is no time for rest and relaxation. With meditation in your daily practices, you are able to recenter yourself and tune inward and reach your inner most world. When looking inward, we are not chasing anything in the physical or searching for something within but simply taking in the pure bliss or being able to be still, breathe and acknowledge that what we are experiencing is one of the greatest gifts we can receive in that moment.
In addition to being fully present in life, one of the greatest gifts we can receive and give to another person is compassion, mindful listening and understanding. When we are suffering or at war with ourselves, the ears of another person can stop the inner turmoil within us as outwardly expressing our emotions can halt the war within. The same goes for being that open ear for someone else. Mindful listening is key in understanding one another and with understanding comes compassion.
