In episode 11 of the OneSMFC Podcast, Superintendent Diego Ochoa is joined by Assistant Superintendent of Ed Services David Chambliss, Science Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) Angel Yan, and Science TOSA Ian Kastelic. The four discuss NGSS: Next Generation Science Standards which is a new way of looking at Science instruction. 

NGSS have been adopted by 47 states in whole or in part and are based on learning Science by doing Science. In an NGSS lesson students are presented with a problem or a question about a real life situation. Students then learn about the situation with the goal of solving it. The ultimate goal is to have students increase their Science and engineering literacy on order to become adults that are able to apply these critical thinking skills to all aspects of their lives.
