Here are some revelations about the flame on the day of Pentecost to give you confidence that God is with you and in you and to make you a better witness for Jesus Christ.
The day of Pentecost
When the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost it came in the form of a fire that divided itself into flames. Each flame sat on a disciple in the Upper Room where they were waiting for the Promise of God to pour out His Spirit on all flesh. Each flame had a name. The one flame went and sat on Peter and the other flame on John; another flame sat on James and another on Phillip. (Acts 2:1-5)
The Good News is that there is a flame of the Holy Ghost that has your name on it! There is a divine spark for you and me.
When Cornelius’s household were baptized in the Holy Spirit when Peter went to preach to them, Peter said they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues in the same way as it happened to them on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 10:44, 45)
All you need to start a fire is a spark.
The Holy Spirit is compared to many things, a dove, a fountain of living waters, a river of life, a mighty gushing wind and a fire and a flame. The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person in the Godhead. He has feelings and personality. God is a Spirit and God is a triune God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
God has reserved a divine spark just for you. When you are baptized in the Holy Ghost you receive that spark. When you need it, the spark inside of you will ignite and cause a fire of the Holy Spirit within you.
Jesus told His disciples when they are arrested to appear before judges that they do not have to pre-meditate what they will say, because the Holy Spirit will tell them what to say in the same hour. The spark inside of them will ignite and the flame will devour their opposition.
When the spark ignites within you, you will know what to say and what to do.
The Promise of God
This is the Promise God made to Abraham: in your Seed (meaning Christ) the whole earth shall be blessed. The Holy Spirit is the promised blessing that came through Christ Jesus. When He left the earth, He promised the Father would send His Holy Spirit to be within believers.
John teaches that the Holy Spirit within believers teaches them concerning all things. When the spark inside of a believer ignites, the Holy Spirit flame teaches them what to say and what to do.
God performs miracles when the Holy Spirit broods over a place. Right in the beginning the earth was dark, void, full of chaos and covered with water and the Spirit brooded over the face of the water. Then God said, ‘Let there be light! And there was light!’
Today your life might be full of darkness and chaos, but the Spirit is brooding over your life. God is ready to create something beautiful of your life.
‘Something beautiful, something good
All my confusion He understood
All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife
But He made something beautiful
Out of my life.’
Here is God’s word for you today: ‘I know the thoughts I have concerning you, not thoughts to hurt you and cause you any harm, but good thoughts, to prosper you and to bless you.’
We are His workmanship
We are His workmanship created for good works to walk in them (Ephesians 2:10-12). Before the creation of the earth, God already knew what He would do with your life. You can trust Him. He created everything and it was good. When He made the sun and the moon and the stars, He saw that it was good. When He shaped the earth and all that is in it, He saw that it was good. God never made anything that was bad. He never made a mistake. He made you and me and He saw that we were good. He is our creator. We can trust Him.
He made man and created a space in man to receive the divine spark. It is the divine spark that advances the world. It is the divine spark in man that causes man to make discoveries and make inventions to advance the cause of mankind. He gave man wisdom to understand the deep things of life. He saw that man needed to know God and s
