Tom Delgado is a comedian and the man behind the very popular YouTube channel @tomdnyc, where he makes funny and information packed videos on NYC history and beyond. Tom is the son of Nicaraguan immigrants who came to the US with nothing and achieved the American dream, and we talk about how that is something a lot of first generation kids find hard to live up to. We also talk about the time when a casting director didn't believe he was Latino becauser he passes as white and what it feels like having to deal with people's preconceptions on what a Latino man is supposed to look like, ditching his career as a lawyer to become a comedian, how he embraced his cross cultural background later in life and the time his immigrant family got booed out of bingo night on a cruise.
