Jamey Nettles | On the seventh day God rested from His work and set apart a weekly day of rest for His people. The sabbath day pointed back to God’s glory in creation, but it also pointed forward to the new creation that was to come through Jesus. Jesus modeled intentional, weekly rest as an act of worship and faith in God, then he died and rose again to purchase our souls’ eternal rest in God. Jesus calls us to rest by faith in the Good News of the Gospel and to follow Him in weekly rhythms of good work and holy rest.
