“Image is everything.” Is it? Unfortunately, that thinking has so permeated our culture that we tend to judge people based on outward appearances. What are they wearing? Are they rich? Do they have an important job or title? What is their ethnic background? What degrees are behind their name? How old, or young, are they? In spite of attempts to legislate equality, we have a natural tendency to evaluate people based on outward appearances. In his letter, James gives a great summary of the evil of judging a person by their cover.
