"You become what you behold"… this timeless principle, is one that represents the covenantal nature with which Go relates to all men, it communicates the truth that men are made by God, and therefore made for worship, and drawing near to one that is higher than they, than you, than I. Revelation shows us in vivid imagery that everyone bears a name, either that of Christ or the Beast, and that the one to whom your covenantally united shapes your eternal and even at times temporary future. Here the way in which John conveys idolatry verses true God-fearing religion is by what you mourn when it goes away - do you worship wealth wickedly or do you worship and rejoice in the Christ's Lordship more clearly manifested, even in the destruction of that stuff behind which men hide or build their lives upon.
