We can take hundreds of hours of lessons on how to improve our games, perfect our strokes and learn tennis strategy. But you can't take lessons for something that's infinitely harder...being a tennis parent! In today's episode we tackle that topic and more with a good friend Wade Murphy as he shares his personal story and the lessons he learned raising his son Sean, taking him through the obstacle course and arduous journey (for both child and parent) that is junior tennis.

There's tons of great insight in this episode not only for parents but for players and coaches too. We talk about how Wade re-committed himself to the game and became an excellent club player in his adult life, his observations on how judgmental the tennis world is and what the role should be for the support team of a player. He's been a Wimbledon semi-finalist, multiple ATP title winner and US Davis Cup team member.

After scaling an 18,000 foot peak in a remote part of Mexico and biking down the Mississippi River from Minnesota to Louisiana, coach Nate Feldman has a lot of experience and wisdom to draw on when he guides tennis players at the highest level of the game. How do we overcome adversity, learn how to suffer gracefully, win long matches and became more well-rounded people in the process? All that and more is tackled in this week's episode of the Everything About Tennis podcast!

Nate Feldman has made a name for himself as a tennis coach at the top of the game, working with ATP and WTA players along with some the best NCAA Division I men's and women's programs in the country. After playing college tennis at the University of Minnesota, Nate helped coach the University of North Carolina women's tennis team, was the head men's and women's coach at Norfolk State University and served as the assistant men's coach at both Oklahoma State and the University of Oklahoma. In addition, he's worked as a traveling coach for players on the ATP, WTA and ITF circuits.

In addition, he's had two stints as a US Junior National Team coach where he's worked with the likes of Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Andy Roddick and more!

The older brother of Arizona head men's tennis coach and podcast Episode #32 guest Clancy Shields, Luke was one of the top recruits in the country as a junior player and even had some experience competing at a professional level as a teenager. He played his college tennis at Boise State University where he was a 3-time All-American and achieved a top 5 national ranking in both singles and doubles at different points during his career. After years of experience as a Division I assistant coach, Luke accepted the head men's tennis coaching position at Fresno State where he is currently in his fourth season.

Selflessness, confidence, consistency and the constant quest for improvement are some of Luke's shining qualities that make him not only an exceptional coach but an exceptional person as well.
