An excoriating critic of the NHS and its institutions but with his last breath, a fan of the patient facing front-line of healthcare and the anonymous people who manage the services.
He has been a policy advisor, a visiting fellow at Imperial College London, helped start the Health services Management school at Nottingham University and was a founder of the Federation of NHS Trusts… that became the Confed. And is the author of over twenty books on health and health service management.
