There's this mantra that I've heard Brené Brown use that says Clear is kind. And I think that applies to so many situations, like your communication with family members, emails, and the thoughts in your brain. It's much kinder to be clear about what's okay and not okay than to not speak up.
That voice in your head that nags you, tells you you aren't enough, and uses up precious brain energy is a squatter. It's someone who has taken up residence in your mind but isn't paying rent or contributing.
Raise your hand if this is happening in your life, because it sure is happening in mine. If you're like me, you find yourself losing sleep arguing with them and then wake up frustrated. Getting clear on what you will and won't allow from your tenants is scary, but it's so important. Because once you've decided what is and isn't okay, there's no going back.
It takes a lot of courage to speak up and say what you want. To tell those squatters to hit the curb. But doing so is the kind thing to do, for yourself and others. Stand up to the squatters in your brain, give them the boot, and find more desirable tenants.
Listen in today as I share my experience with the squatters in my brain and how I deal with evicting them. Believe me, once you're aware of their presence, you won't be able to unsee them. I'm sharing how to get those squatters out and find new tenants who will contribute and use the space well. Choosing joy can be scary, but it's better than letting the squatters back in.
