Today I had the privilege to sit down with bestselling author Sonya Shelton. Sonya wrote the book “You're an Executive, But Are You a Leader?” and is the CEO of Executive Leadership Consulting. Before starting her own business in 2007 she was the Head of Internal Communications for the Walt Disney Company.
In our discussion, we talked about the way leaders lead has changed. If leaders want to be effective, their approach has to change so their team feels valued and has clarity of their purpose.
Here are just a few of the topics we talked about:
1) What makes the difference between an executive and a leader?
2) Do you feel it is important for leaders to form relationships with their employees, vendors, and clients?
3) Knowing your WHY gives you the leverage to keep going when things get tough. How can a leader help the people around them discover their why?
4) Being in marketing, I am all too familiar with an industry that keeps on changing. How do organizations create a strong vision for the future during these times of fast-paced change?
