Fake Self-Worth may include your nice house, car, exotic vacations, and fancy clothes, you didn’t pay for yet. Until then, you don’t own, you’re being owned. You don’t even own your time anymore.

Why is it? Because you were convinced that you were helpless. Because individuality is discouraged and often interpreted as failure. You believed that you have to be beholden to the system to measure up, like everybody else.

Fake values shape us into useful producers, consumers, and citizens. They serve as effective society member grooming tools. Are they ethical or dehumanizing?

The values we were taught to follow benefit society and all those who have more power than we do. Their benefit to us as individuals and humankind is questionable at best.

The fake values of today reveal the predatory nature of our species at its current development stage. Given the opportunity, we devour the natural environment and exploit one another for profit. Our fake values exclude morality and don’t take the future into account.

Reevaluating our values – more than anything else! – may change the course of history: our individual lives and our collective survival.

Climate change is here and it’s getting worse. Environmental damage is getting worse. And yet, it’s still business as usual.

Petroleum continues flourishing. The growth economy is booming. Consumer demand keeps on increasing. The natural environment keeps on losing.

This episode of the Evolving Show podcast points out that under current circumstances a switch from a growth economy to a circular economy is a must.

The powers that be (whether political or economic) benefit from the existing status quo; we don’t and we won’t. Each of us is a member of an influential majority; we are Earthlings.

Let’s imagine for just a moment that there are no powers that be and the world is burning all around us. When the world is burning, there are no cities, no countries, no celebrity, no money, no race. There is fire versus life. Let’s imagine there is but a handful of survivors competing for the last bit of food… Why wait?!

We can make reasonable changes right now that can still prevent a total catastrophe. Think like an Earthling, now. Act like an Earthling, now. If every Earthling starts acting like an Earthling now our combined efforts can still save the Earth.

Electricity and heat generation account for 31% of all greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change.

If we all reduce energy use at home, the percentage of carbon dioxide emissions will drop facilitating the switch to renewable energy.

We take the soil for granted. In fact, the soil is the holy ground: the foundation of human development, our main food supplier, and one of the best, natural carbon emissions capture devices.

The cost of our progress includes - among many other damages - soil erosion. For a few people, soil erosion means that their oceanside properties are becoming unstable. For all of us, soil erosion is a warning sign of impending global hunger.

The available solutions (agroecology, agroforestry, etc.) are implemented at a record-slow speed because the things that are good for the Earth and for us are threatening the existence of multi-billion agrochemical corporations and other companies that benefit from industrial agriculture.

There are however steps that you can take in support of soil health and your own health, right now.
