The Israelites had been in Egypt now, for almost 430 years. That had been their home for generations and they still saw themselves as a unique people, different from the people of Egypt. But they couldn’t help but be influenced by the culture, the thinking, and the values of the Egyptians. As we look this morning at the first three plagues that God brought against Egypt we see God saying, "I am the creator God, leave Egypt behind, and follow me."

The purpose of these plagues was not just to get the Israelites out of Egypt. It was also to get Egypt out of the Israelites.
