Johnny Sins has been one of the most popular names in one of the very few female-dominated industries in the world and has never shied away from expressing his opinions to the media. During his recent hiatus from the screen, he has been heavily promoting his YouTube Channel and also advising all his fans around the world.
The bald, muscular porn actor was born Steven Wolfe in Pennsylvania and had worked as a construction worker before transitioning onto the screen. He has since performed in over 2300 pornographic videos to date and was also in contention to film the first-ever sex video shot in space. The crowd-funded project failed to “take off” but the uniqueness of the project was enough to make Johnny Sins contemplate coming out of his retirement.
In a candid chat with this publication, we talked about his life, career and his message to the future generations of adult film actors
TDV: How does it feel to not go to work every day and spend most of your time with clothes on?
JS: It is different. The lockdown that was imposed and the whole pandemic have made things worse but I believe that even if I wasn’t retired, I would have preferred to wait out the pandemic before getting to a shoot. It is impossible to maintain social distancing and to follow the standard protocol in my line of work. At least I have an excuse, what I don’t understand is the number of people who can stay at home but choose to go out and challenge the pandemic.
TDV: In your long and illustrious career, you have worked with a lot of female pornstars. Who was the most fun to work with?
JS: All of them were extremely professional and lovely to work with. There have been times when I couldn’t get along with someone but I used that anger and emotions into my scene and it got the best performance out of me. I really cannot single out any particular co-star as all of them are special to me.
TDV: What do you attribute your longevity to in this female-dominated industry?
JS: It all boils down to taking care of yourself and being adventurous to try out new things. There are a few things that are a definite no for me but otherwise, I am pretty open to experimenting with new things on the screen. I eat healthy, get plenty of exercise and stay away from cigarettes and drugs. I enjoy a beer now and then but otherwise, I lead a very healthy life.
TDV: Why do you give so much importance to a healthy lifestyle?
JS: We must realise that what I do is a proper job. It is not a flash in the pan or something that you feel like doing on a weekend. As with any job, it has its requirements. In our industry, these requirements are more physical than others. Just like a model needs to look after his/her looks and a sportsperson needs to constantly train. We porn stars need to focus on both, making our job a lot more difficult.
