The restaurant check is where wages, rent, food costs, energy, fees, taxes, and a softer dollar meet. Receipt #19 uses the July 2026 CPI release: food away from home was up 3.4% from a year earlier, with full service meals up 3.4% and limited service meals up 3.3%.
