The three volume "Exo" series has, to my storytelling mind, some fundamental shortcomings that turn what might be a good story into something of a confusing mess. It all makes sense in the end, but getting there was more confusing that exciting. And then there's the bad drug trips, which are just as bad a bit of plot mechanics as dream sequences.
