* God’s commands were clear - don’t eat anything made with yeast during the time of the Passover.
* God had His reasons for requiring it of them, and it didn’t matter whether they understood it or not.
* Their punishment for not obeying seemed really harsh - “to be cut off from the community of Israel.”
* That seems harsh for such a petty rule.
* But they had to realize the rule wasn’t what was most important - it was obedience to the Rule-giver.
* If we disregard the rule, no matter how petty it may seem, it shows disregard for the Rule-Giver.
* It’s essentially a slap in the face.
* Following the rules communicates honor and respect that those in authority deserve.
