Exodus 1 introduces us to the reality that God is faithful to restore His creation and that we, as His people, are called to trust His restorative work. Right away in Exodus 2, we are introduced to God’s literal carrying out of His restorative work: of what God did to make restoration possible to His people. And it didn’t start with some grand act that got everyone’s attention immediately: it started with a single person, an image-bearer of God. Exodus 2 shows us God made His restoration possible through a consecrated image-bearer who would bring justice and deliverance to His people.
