* Trust God even when He doesn’t explain why He’s telling you to do something.
* God gave all the instructions for the building of the tabernacle, sacrificial & ceremonial systems, as well as priestly garments and service.
* Wrapped in these instructions are a plethora of colors.
* Then he gets to the garments for the priest, and the ephod (looks like an apron)…
* Vs 31-35 - God tells them to make the ephod BLUE.
* But God didn’t tell them why.
* Because of brain science, we now know why.
* Color psychology is the study of hues as a determinant of human behavior. Color influences perceptions that are not obvious, such as the taste of food (light blue Gatorade drink).
* Colors have qualities that can cause certain emotions in people.
* In marketing, customers generally make an initial judgment on a product within 90 seconds of interaction with that product.
* About 62%-90% of that judgment is based on color alone!
* The color blue has long been considered a “trust” color - it elicits calmness and peace.
* Some of the biggest brands use this color for this reason (IBM blue).
* Blue light causes people to feel relaxed, which has lead countries to add blue street lights in order to decrease suicide rates. In 2000, the city of Glasgow installed blue street lighting in certain neighborhoods and subsequently reported the anecdotal finding of reduced crime in these areas. A railroad company in Japan installed blue lighting on its stations in October 2009 in an effort to reduce the number of suicide attempts.
* In a recent study the color blue ranked among Americans’ favorite color, with yellow, orange, and brown ranking at the bottom.
* So when God makes the priest’s robe blue, He’s doing it to help the people TRUST the priest.
* Who are we today? We are priests, and TRUST must be our color!
* It meets our core need for security.
* We won’t elicit trust in others if we don’t trust God ourselves.
* This story shows trusting God when you don’t know why makes you trustworthy!
