* Two occasions we see the Israelites giving in to their appetites:
* 1) They did something they shouldn’t have done (this is a trespass).
* Exodus 32:2-4 - they lost faith and crafted a graven image.
* 2) The didn’t do something they should’ve done (this is a debt).
* Numbers 13:31 - they refused to walk in faith and enter the Promised Land.
* Both occasions the Israelites indulged themselves.
* We naturally move away from pain and toward comfort.
* Horses do the same thing. But donkeys turn into the pain.
* We have to learn to lean into our pain.
* More is accomplished in the pain cave than the comfort zone.
* What was the result of their indulgence?
* 1) People died (vs 27-28) - the Levites had to take them out.
* 2) People were plagued (vs 35) - they got sick.
* 3) Promise was delayed (Num 14:34) - they didn’t get to experience their place of rest.
