God began to address His people’s struggles with restoration in Exodus 6, reminding them of His nature (who He is), our identity (who we are to Him), and His ultimate work of restoration (what He’s doing). In Exodus 7, we see God beginning to do His delivering work, and it reveals a contrast in the life He has for us and the life we often are so content to choose. Moses and Pharaoh highlight these contrasting lifestyles, showing that life with God through Christ brings freedom, restoration, and worship; life without God brings self-reliance, hard hearts, and brokenness.
