Greetings All,
For the past 48 years as a nation and worldwide we’ve been actively locked down along political and religious lines as folks debate Roe v Wade.
Think how many Federal Supreme nominees, politicians, and religious leaders are asked about their stance on Roe v Wade.
While this battle is taking place, it has subtly taken our eyes off a growing menace - the
normalizing of rape culture. The ever expanding of judicial rulings of dumbing down sexual violence to just sex, the gutting of protections afforded by Title IX, and oh too common excuses, boys will be boys or it was just youthful indiscretion, or he is a good family man a good provider.
We can no longer take our eyes off the fact that every 73 seconds in this country someone, as in 90% are women and girls, are being sexually assaulted. That 93% of children victimized by childhood sexual violence knows their predator.
Not doubt, we must remain focused on Roe v Wade but it’s TIME we expand our thoughts, our actions, and our commitment to the eradication of sexual violence and hold those who violate us and the judicial systems that minimize these crime accountable.
