The CMajor Radio Show

Expanding Your Chords: Powerful Chords Plus the 3rd

Listen Later

Thank you for listening to the CMajor Radio Show online broadcast.  Chord Power!--That's the topic of today's broadcast.  We will talk about the power of playing chords in a more full way on the piano.  Some pianists like to use the third of a chord while others like to leave it out.  Which sound do you prefer, a more open sound with fifths or something else.  In more formal language, we'll talk about intervals and spacing.  As you grow as a musician and a pianist, you'll be sometimes asked to describe the distance between the notes that you are playing.  How do you do this?  Sometimes the notes that you are playing with both hands may be more than one octave apart.  How can you describe intervals that are at a closer distance?  How will they sound, better or worse by compounding the sound?  As one famous music legend once said, "If it sounds good, it is good.."  That's coming up on the next broadcast.  See you then!
