Today’s gospel is proclaimed by our preacher. Here are some of her notes to accompany her dialogue with our congregation.
“““I used to hear our text today, “Fool, this very night your
But friends, that’s not it.
To know, at every moment, that my life is being demanded of
That all can be lost, that nothing is forever,
And that my efforts at security are pointless,
To know all this is actually one of the Gifts of God for the
God’s gift, Jesus’ message over and over again, is to tell
That it’s by our woundedness that we find out holiness.
When I die to my own ego, break apart the structures of my
When I do not cling tightly to my own manufactured sense of
Then I am alive and free and happy and safe.
With this in mind, I bring you an image that I stumbled across
That has grabbed a hold of my attention for these past weeks
I share it with you and I want to talk about it with you.
