What draws me to learn about the history of the Vikings? They spent most of their time farming, fishing, hunting and crafting. Why this interest?
“A nation that cuts off its historical roots is like a tree that cuts off its roots: it will wither
and die.” - Winston Churchill, British prime minister (1874-1965).
In addition to roots, we need wings.
Having roots gives us a sense of structure, stability and belonging, as well as a broader
perspective.
Wings symbolise our freedom, dreams and aspirations, and the ability to pursue them. They
represent our creativity and imagination, and the power to express ourselves.
Bruce Naigles, a New York-born sculptor, has also lived in Italy and now in Norway for many years.
Where is this true global citizens rooted? Where are his wings taking him?
I admire a man taking the road less travelled. This is a different, and often challenging path.
Let's hear about it
