Experiencing God's Power, Grace, and Promises 2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. • In this passage Peter is addressing all fellow Christians – and he calls himself a servant of Jesus (the Greek word is Doulos & translates as "slave"), Peter accounted himself a slave • To us believers that have obtained like precious faith through the righteousness of God, 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. • Peter says: of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ – here Peter proclaims that Jesus is God • He continues: grace and peace are multiplied through our knowledge of God; this is a wonderful reason to study and meditate on the holy scriptures • Our knowledge of the holy unlocks God's divine provision, where He reveals His promises to us, which prompts our spiritual growth • And of Jesus our Lord – this phrase indicates we must have a personal relationship with Jesus • Our faith is empowered by God's Theos (godhead) divine power and our faith connects us to God's promises • That hath called us to glory
