About Walter Sun
Dr. Walter Sun is the Vice President of Copilot AI, Business Applications & Platform group at Microsoft. He leads a team of engineers and scientists who are developing innovative AI solutions for various business domains. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech and a Master's of Science and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. He has over 20 years of experience in the tech industry, working as a quant at Blackrock Financial Management, a senior codec engineer/scientist at Apple Computer, and a staff DSP engineer at 2Wire before joining Microsoft in 2005.
At Microsoft, he has worked on Windows codecs, Bing multimedia search, web search, web ranking, and Bing Predicts, which he started and led for several years. He also worked on Market Insights and Applied AI in the Business Applications group. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys applying sports analytics to predict outcomes and trends. He is an Advisory Board member at Georgia Tech and has been an adjunct faculty at Seattle University and an affiliate faculty at University of Washington.
