Since 1990, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act has been in place to provide for the repatriation and disposition of certain Native American human remains, funerary objects, sacred objects, and objects of cultural patrimony. Over the years, adjustments to the program have been made and most recently in 2021, a new draft of proposed regulation updates was published.
