What a cool experience! My partner and I found this really awesome AirBnB cabin online and decided that a weekend away would be nice to switch things up. We were right! It was so relaxing to get away from the bustle and business that is Asheville.

The cabin we found was only 15 miles away in Upper Hominy Creek Township, but you’re almost in another world when you’re up there. It’s tucked away in the mountains and takes some navigating to find. You can access the road it’s on via RT. 151 from both the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smokey Park Highway sides.

My partner was going to drive our SUV out with our dog and gear and so I decided I’d take the Honda Trail CT125. I opted to leave my apartment and ride up through Bent Creek and onto the Parkway where I would then descend 151 towards the cabin.

I arrived at the cabin a bit before my partner and it gave me some solid time to get settled in and take a look around. The cabin isn’t huge but it’s honestly pretty cute. It’s very self contained. The cabin has a really nice fenced in deck which allows you to open the glass garage door and create one large enclosed living space. There’s a small kitchenette with the right amenities to make coffee, make breakfast or dinner, and to clean up after you’re done. The deck has a lovely fireplace with some chairs to get comfortable and enjoy the woods. There’s also a grill out front if you’re looking for a way to cook dinner.

One thing I thought was really cool was the outside solar shower. They actually built that part of the deck around a tree and so it’s part of the shower itself. Also, the bathroom is adjacent so you don’t have to leave the cabin at night to do your business.

We had a great fire and our pup got to enjoy laying in her bed by the fire. She got lots of pets and we really enjoyed our time. Freshly ground coffee in the morning capped off a fantastic evening of pizza from Galactic and some DogfishHead Sea Quench Sour beer.

If you ever end up in this area and want to rent a cabin I highly recommend this one.
