Exploring Spiritual Eco Glitch Feminism with Claudi Piripippi

Listen Later

Welcome to another episode of the Women United ART PODCAST! Today, we are honored to host Claudi Piripippi, an extraordinary artist whose journey spans from Germany to Italy, and whose academic and cultural experiences have taken her across Italy, the UK, and the US. Claudi’s itinerant lifestyle, deeply intertwined with her pursuit of art and love, has profoundly shaped her creative practice.

Claudi has a rich history of working with recycled plastic bags, creatively interacting with different landscapes. Her impressive body of work has received international acclaim, earning prestigious awards such as the Joan Mitchell Grant, Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner Grant, and the Royal British Society of Sculptors Bursary Award, among others. Since graduating from Suzanne Lacy’s MFA program in 2015, Claudi has ventured into radical eco-glitch-feminism, expressing herself through performances, videos, and interactive poetry to explore the tension between private and public realms.

In this episode, we delve into Claudi’s artistic philosophy, where she collaborates with her wounds and the cosmic events that contribute to collective pain. Her work is a testament to the personal being political and sacred, as she navigates the intricate landscape within herself and the broader environment. Claudi's latest approach involves "capitalizing" on her own mess, studying the inner environment, and experimenting with personal transformation as a form of social engagement.

Claudi’s art remains deeply rooted in themes of care, nature, and environmentalism, reflecting her ongoing battle with societal judgments and her own heritage. Her digital works are intangible and invisible, yet they resonate with feminine creative labor and address unresolved relationships with her mother, patriarchy, mythology, self, nature, and mainstream society.

Join us for an insightful conversation with Claudi Piripippi as we explore her unique artistic journey and the powerful narratives that drive her work.
