Exploring the Chattahoochee River with Superintendent William Cox

Listen Later

Bill Cox, Superintendent of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA), informs listeners about the 48 mile stretch of the river and 15 different units that make up the CRNRA. The Chattahoochee has been a source of food, power and recreation for thousands of years - and continues to be a central gathering place for Atlanta locals to relax and recreate.

Bill shares his stories about the river, including the legend of the Cochran Shoals alligator (it's true!) and all the opportunities locals and visitors have to enjoy this gem of Georgia. Whether you hike, bike, tube, paddle or climb - the "Hootch" and the surrounding parklands - are a treasure to both enjoy and protect for future generations.
