A look at Alfred Deakin, Australia’s second Prime Minister. This episode focuses on the man, more than the politician. Kudos to Judith Brett for her excellent book, The Enigmatic Mr Deakin.

In addition to being a founding father of Australian federation, Deakin was progressive and a spiritualist who wrote plays and poetry. An excellent public speaker and debater, he showed great integrity in public life.
