Ethiopia is on “Civil War Watch” as the country’s Prime Minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner Abiy Ahmed has started an offensive against an ethnic group in the Tigray Region in northern Ethiopia. Since November, thousands of people from the Region have fled to Sudan, there have been reports of hundreds of deaths on each side, and it looks like Eritrea has been drawn into the mess. Many foreign observers fear that this could turn into an international crisis at any point. In this episode, Drew and Alex look into the ethnic issues inside of Ethiopia, the history of their crisis with Eritrea, and more. Their goal is to find out how Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed went from Nobel peace prize winner to a controversial figure. They also discuss how both sides aren’t perfect on this issue.
