🚨 The federal government refused to release their names. Congress was denied their names. The Governor of Minnesota was denied their names. And then ProPublica published them anyway. Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and CBP officer Raymundo Gutierrez fired 10 shots in less than five seconds at Alex Pretti — an ICU nurse, a VA hospital employee, a lawful gun owner with no criminal record — as he lay on the ground. And then the government lied about
every single detail of what happened.
👤 WHO WAS ALEX PRETTI:
✅ 37-year-old American citizen and ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital — employed by the same United States government whose agents shot him
✅ Lawful gun owner with a valid permit to carry — his only interactions with law enforcement
were traffic tickets
✅ His parents described him as a "kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends, and also the American veterans who he cared for as an ICU nurse"
✅ His colleague at the VA said: "There is no reason for a guy like that to be dead, let alone to be killed by the agents of a government that employed him"
🔫 THE TWO AGENTS WHO SHOT HIM:
✅ Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa, 43, and CBP officer Raymundo Gutierrez, 35 — both assigned to Operation Metro Surge — fired on Pretti as he lay on the ground after being pepper sprayed
✅ The federal government refused to release their names to Congress, to the Governor of Minnesota, and to Minneapolis city officials — ProPublica published them after viewing government records directly
✅ Both agents remained on the job after the shooting — relocated out of Minneapolis for their own safety
✅ CBP confirmed both men "will remain Border Patrol agents"
🎥 WHAT THE VIDEO ACTUALLY SHOWS:
✅ ABC News verified a minute-by-minute timeline — Pretti was holding his phone recording agents THREE MINUTES before the first shot was fired
✅ CBS News verified videos show Pretti holding a phone in his right hand and nothing in his left hand before he was shot
✅ Multiple verified videos show a federal agent in a gray jacket reaching into the scuffle empty-handed and emerging with a gun — then turning AWAY from Pretti when the first shot was fired
✅ A physician witness testified that agents were not performing CPR on Pretti but instead appeared to be counting his bullet wounds
✅ A pediatrician who watched from their apartment window filed a sworn affidavit: "The man did not approach the agents with a gun. He approached them with a camera. He was just trying to help a woman get up"
🤥 WHAT THE GOVERNMENT SAID:
✅ DHS claimed Pretti "approached U.S. Border Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun" and "violently resisted"
✅ Border Patrol Commander Bovino claimed Pretti may have wanted to do "maximum damage" and "massacre law enforcement"
✅ Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara responded: "The Minneapolis Police Department went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders — and we didn't shoot anyone"
✅ Governor Walz called the government's account "nonsense" and "lies"
📌 Alex Pretti was a nurse who spent his career caring for American veterans. He was shot 10 times in under five seconds. The agents who shot him are still employed. The body camera footage has not been released. The cover up is ongoing.
