Luke 1; Lamentations 3:22-23
In the first chapter of Luke, the author investigates in detail what happened months before the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus. John's father, Zacharias, played a crucial role in God's plan. He was gripped with fear when the angel of the Lord, Gabriel, came to extend God's mercy to his household, allowing him and his wife Elizabeth to conceive a son who would be the forerunner of Jesus. Mary was also fearful when the angel of the Lord appeared to her to tell her that she would conceive a child. God showed her mercy by calling her blessed through all generations. With this being said, we might be fearful when God speaks to us about a miracle, but God extends his mercies and his love to us. We are to extend that mercy to the next generation by telling them how we have overcome significant obstacles with His mercies, for "they are new every morning." If God extends his mercies to us, who are we to withhold it from others? Show others Jesus' work in your life so that they, too, will experience Him who came to give life and life abundantly.
