On this episode of EyeCan we talk to Dr. Robert Koenekoop, a Montreal-based paediatric ophthalmologist and Molecular Biologist of Blindness who studies retinal degenerations and childhood blindness.  For the past 25 years he has devoted his research career to discovering new retinal genes for childhood blindness due to retinal degenerations. His researcher into gene therapy and has discovered over 15 new genes for IRDs and has helped pave the way for Health Canada to recently approved gene replacement therapy for an autosomal recessive inherited retinal disorders.
