In this episode, we see the consequences of Commander Sinclair’s decisions throughout the season, as an internal affairs investigator arrives to test the loyalty of the station’s staff. The investigator, Colonel Ari Ben Zayn, is accompanied by a telepath, Harriman Gray, who is assigned to scan the minds of the crew. Ben Zayn has a personal grudge against Sinclair, and is determined to find any evidence of treason or misconduct. He interrogates Sinclair, Ivanova, Garibaldi, and even Delenn, and tries to provoke them into revealing their secrets or doubts.
