Tai-Ex opening

The Tai-Ex opened up 4-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 23,251

on turnover of $2.95-billion N-T.



Presidential Office simulation shows need for better government coordination

National Security Council Deputy Secretary-General, Lin Fei-fan says central

and local governments need to improve their coordination to better defend

Taiwan.


The statement follows a "tabletop simulation" at the Presidential Office.


According to Lin, although emergency response protocols are well established,

various government agencies at different levels need to enhance their ability

to coordinate and communicate more effectively during emergencies.


Lin says currently, each agency tends to approach issues separately without

considering how they can collaborate (合作) with each other and improve their

"response to complex threats" ….


.. and the "tabletop simulation" exposed potential manpower shortages

affecting entities overseen by the Ministry of the Interior - including

law enforcement agencies, fire departments, the air service corps and others.


It was carried out during the second meeting of the Presidential Office's

Whole-of-Society Defense Resilience Committee and included the participation

of Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim and other top central and local government

officials.


Azerbaijan Day of Mourning for Plane Crash Victims

Azerbaijan is observing a nationwide day of mourning for the victims of the

air crash that killed 38 people and left all 29 survivors injured as

speculation (

猜測) has been mounting about a possible cause of the crash …


.. with reports saying it was likely hit by Russian air defence systems.

Finland Detains RussianLinked Ship After Cable Damage

Finnish police say authorities detained a ship linked to neighboring Russia

as they investigate whether it damaged a Baltic Sea power cable and several

data cables.


It was the latest incident involving disruption (破壞) of key infrastructure.


Police and border guards boarded the Eagle S and took control as they

investigate damage to the Estlink-2 undersea power cable.


The cable brings electricity from Finland to Estonia across the Baltic Sea.


The cable went down on Wednesday.


The incident follows damage to two data cables and the Nord Stream gas

pipelines.


Both have been termed sabotage.



US FDA Proposes New Testing Rules For Asbestos in Cosmetics

From the US…


The Food and Drug Administration is proposing a rule that cosmetic (化妝品)

companies would need to take extra steps to ensure that any products

containing talc are free of asbestos.
