Was the Land left Completely empty?
Who was exiled?
What changed about Judaism in Babylon?
We refer both to the Biblical history, as recorded in the Bible and the Book of Ezekiel. We also refer to the archaeological record.

18. The Hidden Message of the Persian Exile

We learn about the Diaspora, the dispersal of Jews around the world, where it began, and how it forms a part of Jewish Ethnicity. The Jewish story of dispersal begins in Egypt before the 5th century, we discuss the problems with dating the community. We use the Elephantine papyri to explore the beginning of the exile.
